The theme of Elizabeth's 2
nd birthday party is going to be Alice in Wonderland. This week, I sent out the invitations:

The color is horrible (I had to take pictures with the iPhone since our camera is still under construction), but in person they look much nicer. I made the tea cup shape from pink card stock (the tea cup shape is joined at the bottom and has two sides glued together so the tea bag can slip inside) and then printed the party information on white stock and glued it to the front. I didn't have enough room for the R.S.V.P. info, so I thought it would be cute to put it on a tea bag which could tuck into the tea cup. I found the original artwork from
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland art online and printed it onto green card stock, cut it out, attached the two halves with a string and then glued the additional info to it. The jewels at the top and bottom of the tea cup are a blue, sparkly puffy paint for paper. I also made my own custom fitted envelopes to go with them.

Since I had to cut the invitations by hand, it took a really long time, but it was fun designing them and I think they turned out really nice (I have already got some compliments from our guests). I am thinking about possibly selling them on
Etsy, but I don't know if anyone would be interested in buying them (plus, I'd have to take some better pictures!). We'll see.
I am planning a lot of other good things for her birthday and have been stocking up on Wonderland supplies over the last few months. We already have costumes for ourselves from
Halloween (Lizzie is going to wear her Alice dress, but I think Shawn and I are just going to wear our Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts
head gear). I have also been getting silk flowers, tea cups, playing cards, and all kind of fun things to decorate the house with. It's going to be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!
I'll post pictures of the party (with a better camera) once we're all decorated!

Yes, Lisa, those invitations were fabulous! Complete with address labels that said, "You're Late! You're Late! For a very important date!" Plus, the invitations were sealed with wax, and the stamps were even antique design! You really did think of everything. Super awesome.
Can't wait for the party and to help Alice---uh, Liz---celebrate her 2nd birthday!
