Vacationing in Chicago: Day #2

Today, we set out to enjoy some of the cultural sites in the area. Since we are staying near the Museum Campus area, we walked over to check out some of the great museums. Here’s a picture of Shawn and I with an overcast Lake Michigan behind us…

This was an interesting statue outside the Shedd Aquarium

We eventually decided to go see the Adler Planetarium. We bought tickets to view two shows; one on space and time and one on the ancient Egyptians use of the stars in their belief system. The rest of the museum was very educational and fun. Here’s me learning about medieval astronomy…

Here’s Shawn in front of the burning surface of the sun…

When we exited the planetarium, the weather had greatly improved and we asked a kind stranger to take this picture of the four of us in front of the Chicago skyline…

In the evening, we went to see Wicked at the Oriental Theater. The show was really excellent (and now I think I’d like to read the book it was based on!). Here’s a picture of the Oriental Theater…

And a slightly blurry picture of Shawn and I in front of the Chicago Theater

"Here's me learning about medieval astronomy"--hilarious!

Wicked is a great book but I have yet to see the play!
