Zoo Days

Now that summer is officially winding down, I thought I'd review some of the fun times we've had at the zoo. We decided to buy a family pass this year so we could visit the zoo whenever we wanted to. This is so great, especially for Lizzie, because we can just pop up there for an hour or two and then head home for a nap. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that we've made about twenty trips to the zoo this year. And on top of that, Lizzie goes with her cousins and Jeanette all the time, too!

Here's me, Shawn, and Lizzie getting ready to ride the train through the Australian outback...

The train is a big hit with us. We ride it almost every time we go to the zoo. Here's me and Liz cruising along the tracks (one of us is not amused)...

And Grandma even rode the train with us one day...

Another big hit is the dinosaur exhibit. Elizabeth loves to see the dinosaurs and will start talking about them the minute we get to the zoo. However, she also finds them a little frightening and will repeatedly tell Shawn and I that these large animatronic creatures are "scawey" and that they should all have to take "time out!" Here we are looking at some baby dinosaurs (much less "scawey")...

Shawn and Liz on the back of a T-Rex...

Mommy and Lizzie facing down the T-Rex at dusk (notice Lizzie's vice-like grip on me)...

This is a cute picture of us looking at the turtles (I am wearing my "zoo hat" again)...

Now Lizzie is wearing my zoo hat...

It looks likes we're all done with the zoo for this year. We had a great time! See you next summer animals!
