Even More Harry Potter Nerdiness

If you've read anything on this blog, you know that I love Harry Potter. I first read the books in 2000, when my wonderful friend, Kristina, recommended them to me. I got the first book from the library and quickly read through Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Goblet of Fire (which were the only books published at the time).

Then when the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, came out, Kristina and I waited in line at 12:01 AM to buy it. We did the same for Half-Blood Prince. When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out, Shawn and I dressed up as Tonks and Lupin and drove an hour from our house to go to the biggest midnight book release party in the area.

I’ve seen all five of the movies on the first day they were released and have them all on DVD. I have all seven books in both the American and British printings. I have a Hogwarts hoodie, a shirt promoting SPEW, and a Gryffindor scarf. I have even met J.K. Rowling and have two signed copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in my house right now, which I shall treasure until my dying day.

So, yeah, I kind of like Harry Potter. That is why it will be no surprise that Shawn, Kristina, and I decided to go to a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and dress up as characters from the book. Shawn had the idea to be evil, so we went as Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Narcissa Malfoy. Here we are along with some other Potter-loving friends.

I’m also going to post about how I made the costumes in case anyone is interested and just because I love making costumes. There will be even more pictures in that post!
